A warm front is moving northeastward across northern Illinois this evening. Late afternoon temperatures were in the 70's to the south of the front and the 50's to the north of the front. A band of light rain showers moved through the area well in advance of the front earlier this afternoon. They have since pushed well off to the east and are no longer a threat. The warm front will continue to move northeast tonight and probably stall out as a stationary front somewhere across the Stateline. With the warmer air coming in from the south, temperatures tonight will be considerably milder than last night, especially to the southwest of the Rockford area. It will be partly cloudy tonight, and on Monday. Monday will be a fantastic day for this time of year with high's in the 70's to the southwest of the front. It may only reach into the 60's across parts of southeast Wisconsin. With warm air streaming into the area on Monday night it will remain very mild all night with a low more like August (around 60 degrees). By the time Tuesday rolls around the slow moving system over the plains will be close enough to push some showers and thunderstorms in the western part of the area in the morning, and bring a chance of showers and possibly some isolated thunderstorms to the rest of the Stateline in the afternoon. Because this a a very slow moving system there will be continuing chances of showers and some isolated thunderstorms across the area through Wednesday night. On Thursday the system will weaken and move out of the area. Friday will be gorgeous with lots of sunshine under the influence of high pressure. By next weekend another system will be edging towards the midwest from the plains bringing our region a chance of showers again. It will remain mild throughout the week.
